Platelet Rich Plasma
PRP therapy is also called a Regenerative Injection Therapy known to induce a natural healing response in the body to regenerate damaged joints. PRP injections are safe, non-surgical treatments, which contain numerous proteins called growth factors. Studies show that growth factors have an effect on collagen synthesis and strengthening the ligaments, tendons, and muscles in additional to natural skin rejuvenation and hair growth.
PRP is prepared by taking a sample of blood from the patient and spun in centrifuge. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during centrifugation. Concentrated PRP contains 5-10 times more platelets than what is typically found in blood, hence more abundant in growth factors and greater effect in repair process.
